Which one are you?
Why Focus on Project Goals?
Goal focussed Project Managers are focused on the outcomes of the project and it is always a challenge to get started with a new way of working, so here are three reasons why you should become Goal Focussed on your projects.
Project Goal Tip #3: Simplification
Being goal focussed will simplify the way you work. You will have less detail in your plans and they will be easier to follow and execute.
Project Goal Tip #2: Sense of Achievement
Achieving goals, especially if they are big ones will bring you an immense sense fulfilment, satisfaction and achievement; achievement drives action, action drives your results.
Project Goal Tip #3: Stress Less
The unconscious mind has a knack of protecting you and by swapping to focus on goals rather than tasks, will give your unconscious mind a chance to help you, keep you out of harms way and that means less stress for you.
One of the biggest lessons that I learned was that by simply believing that your achievement is a foregone conclusion, you actually stand more chance of succeeding.
The Big Problem.
The big problem is that all of the PM training tells you to adopt a deliverable based planning approach, yet it doesn’t really teach you how achieve goals.
How to Get Started With Project Goals
The best way of getting started with a Goals Focussed approach is to have a template that will guide you through the steps.
That’s why I create the Power Goal Template.
You can get a copy of the Power Goal template (and of course it’s absolutely free) from:
p.s It’s only a goal if it’s written down, so please make sure you do, then you stand a fighting chance of succeeding.
